DAILY BIBLE READINGS

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 28, 2015                                        HIGHER EVERYDAY

PERSEVERANCE

"Behold, we count them happy which endure, Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy." (James 5:11).

                              Press on to the mark

Canadian hero Sir, Alexander Mackenzie's earlier attempt to find a water route to the Pacific in 1789 ended in a major disappointment. He had set out in an effort to find a water route to the Pacific following a mighty river, 'The Mackenzie,' with high hopes. Unfortunately, it didn't empty into the Pacific, but into the Arctic Ocean. However, he did not despair. He later accomplished the magnificent task by leading an incredible expedition to the Pacific ocean in 1793.

Ask yourself what you would have written for your epitaph. Would it be, "Here lies one who meant well, who tried a little, and failed much?" Let your dying words not be, "So little done, so much to do." When you fall on your way to the mountain top, get up, shake off the dust and press on the mark. "The way to success is not very smooth."

Challenge: He achieves his goal who perseveres.

Prayer: O Lord, help me never to up.
